Daquiu Gasto Toscana Sangiovese
December 24, 2017
Daquiu Gasto Toscana Sangiovese.
Purchased for $4.99 at Trader Joe’s.
Enjoyed during a partially blind taste test after Christmas Eve festivities.
Ally says, "Musky wooden odor. Rich and deep plum color. Acidity doesn’t leave room for much flavor. Wet aftertaste, hints of dark and dried fruit. Not a huge fan, but drinkable, of course. 5/10."
Lauren says, "Smells of wet grass, soil, and ethanol. Very simple. Not complex. Light bodied with a similar texture to water. Slight tannin aftertaste. Nothing special and very simple. Overall chemical flavors. Probably would not buy again, but not the worst I have had. 4/10."
Zach says, "Nose of marzipan, red fruit, vanilla, and cedar. Color is rich, tranquil garnet. Taste is initially mildly tannic leading to a moderate acidity. The aftertaste is unpleasant and metallic. Smells much better than it tastes. 5/10."
Matt says, "While at first glance it looks like your everyday bottle of Manichevitz, spoiler alert it’s not. At first smell, it has earthy tones as well as some woody tones underneath that. Nothing too overwhelming. For taste, not a whole lot going on. It also has an earthy taste and maybe a little bit of oak in the finish. I prefer Manichevitz but would drink this if someone else bought it for me. 5/10."
