Ravens Wood Zinfandel

December 24, 2017

Purchased for Ravens Wood Zinfandel, 2014.
$9.99 at Wine & Spirits on Gandy.
Enjoyed during a partially blind tasting.

Zachary says, "Color is deep burgundy. Nose is complex and fragrant. Notes of tobacco, acetone, apricot, and rich cherry. There is something flat on the nose, however, that I can’t quite place. Taste is very fruity, acidic and straightforward. Overall, this wine would make a great table wine. 6/10."
Lauren says, "Dark ruby red color. Scent of blackberry, smoke, and earth. A slightly tannic and long ending. Flavors of blackberry tart, cigar, and licorice. Sweeter than anticipated and some spicy undertones. Tastes better as you drink it. Definitely complex. 6.5/10."
Matt says, "First look has a dark cherry blackish color. Smell is very fruit like and much less earthy than the previous wine. It’s a Very in your face and much stronger smell. The cherry is what you smell at first followed by some drier fruits. Taste is extremely similar to the smell. Cherry in the beginning followed by other fruits giving it a somewhat complex taste. Very Tannic but not in a way that makes it undrinkable. 5/10."
Ally says, "Smells strong and looks almost black. Earthy and coolly pungent with vegetative hints. Taste is different, perhaps berry and nutty combined. A dark cocoa appears in the aftertaste. It’s complex and quite delightful for a more dry red. Cheers! 6/10."
