The Great American Wine Company Cabernet Sauvignon

September 13, 2017

The Great American Wine Company Cabernet Sauvignon, 2014.
Purchased BOGO at Publix for $12.99.
Enjoyed with a snack on paper plates since Lauren’s apartment is all packed up for our move soon. Also, with a huge sigh of relief because we just got approved for renter’s insurance for our new place despite hurricane Irma’s damages.

Lauren says, "Aroma of deep cherry and earth. Tastes like a heavy, generic red with tannins and an oddly thin texture when compared with the heaviness. Underlying oak and soil with a slight mineral and candied cherry ending. Not a bad cab for me. A little too bitter, like most cabs are, but I would probably enjoy this at a wedding or event.  Really not bad for a BOGO deal. 6/10. If you drink it with blue cheese, it might become a 6.5-7."
Zach says, "Nose of red fruit, vanilla, and oak. Mild acidity and subtle tannins are pleasant, however, a brash, bold bitterness that is characteristic of a Cabernet makes this wine unlovable. Pairs very nicely with a rich, savory blue cheese to complement its full-bodied nature. Overall simple and tastes it’s price. 6/10."
