Monsanto Chianti, 2014

Lauren says, “Garnet color. Aromatic mushroom and burnt earth scent. Resembles the smell of a match. Medium bodied. A dry wine overall with some smoke, black pepper, and herbaceous undertones. Not fruity at all, mostly tannic. 6.5/10. ”
Zach says, “Red-brown in color. Nose is characteristic of Chianti: red fruit, sulfur, and dust. A cloud of chemical and earth tightly guards  a mysterious fruitiness giving this wine a complexity on the nose that is rather enjoyable. Thick mouthfeel. Very low acidity. Tannin is moderate, but not overpowering. This wine would be a bit more enjoyable if it was more acidic. The dusty/earthy nose and potent tannic elements are lacking compliment. Would pair beautifully with veal parmesan or muscles marinara. 7/10.”
