King Estate Pinot Gris, 2017.
~$13.00 at Total Wine.
Lauren says, “Light yellow color. Aroma of honey, melons, and peaches. Definitely a pineapple smell. Light bodied. Flavor of cantaloupe and apricot. Acidic and light bodied. A good, light white option. 8/10. ”
Zach says, “I have had a particular eversion to Pino Gris/Grigio for years. I once invested twenty dollars in a bottle of Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio that left me with less than favorable memories. I remember that it tasted and smelt like water. I vowed to never spend money on that insipid, straw-colored liquid again. Till today. I decided to cook a shrimp with pasta dish, which demanded a fresh, acidic white. Naturally, this grape came to mind. So, with the spirit of forgiveness, I write:
Color is a faint, transparent yellow. Nose is fresh, but not complex. Notes of fresh pear and apple. Very acidic. Short, fruity finish that leaves you ready for another sip. Overall, perfect for soft, sharp cheeses and cheese-based pasta sauces. 7.5/10”
