Clos du Bois Petite Sirah

 Sometime in December,

Clos du Bois Petite Sirah

Lauren says, “Dark purple in the glass. Aroma of strong baking spice and candied black cherries. Full bodied. Rich and thick like syrup. Deep tannins. Flavor of black licorice throughout. Smooth. I like it a lot but it does need time to open up. 8/10 if you give it two hours to open.”

Zach says, “In the glass, this wine is dark purple — though light struggles to penetrate as the liquid is rich and viscous. A great deal of sediment is noted. On the nose, there is first oak and toasted caramel that transforms into cherry liqueur and mocha. Very full bodied and acidic on the palate with slightly less than balanced tannin. I find that the ripe acidity and lingering tart, fresh fruit finish is reminiscent of some fine Italian wines.  However, it must be said that I long for structure. Would be a great wine for red sauces and hearty meats that can compete with its richness and high acidity.  7/10.
