Zach says, “Red wines in France are a great challenge for me. The regions and geography are as complex as the esoteric rules for designation. Even more frustrating is the fact that many of the french reds wines I have consumed are earthy, thin, and uninspiring. French whites, however, are king.
This vibrant Chablis by William Fèvre, a producer recommended by Karen MacNeil in her sprawling wine text entitled, “The Wine Bible,” is sensational. The nose has hints of ocean spray, warm butter in a pan, green apple, and carrot cake. Spectacularly acidic. Vibrant minerality dances across your palate lasting until you are ready for the next sip. Finish is long and buttery. Really special. 9/10.”
Lauren says, “Creamy yellow in the glass. Aroma of melons and apple orchard. High acidity. Very refreshing. Medium bodied with a creamy finish. Flavor of cantaloupe, peaches, and orange blossoms. The ending is reminiscent of whipped cream or churned butter with citrus shavings. It is refreshing/crisp while still retaining the richer characteristic of Chardonnay. Love this bottle. Tart and crip when cold but grows in complexity as it warms. 9/10.”
