Zach says, “Dark, plum purple on the glass. I am first hit by smooth oak, I thought “this smells like Santa Teresa 1796.” So maybe we can say, bourbon/rum barrels. In 30 minutes or so I then started to note some subtle raspberry and cherry, soil, mint, vanilla, amber. Full bodied. High tannin. Mod acidity. Pretty oaky on the finish. I think this will be spectacular in 2030. Will buy another bottle to cellar. Long finish. 8.5/10 needed an hour or so to open, even longer to really chart the trajectory.”
Lauren says, “Plum in the glass. I am initially hit by strong aroma of licorice, black & white pepper. Slight black berry and cherry. High tannins, high acidity. Medium body. Smooth. Flavor of baking spices, vanilla, and black fruit. This is complex and enjoyable. Needs some time to air. 9/10.”
